CLASSIC FAM SETS
These sets gained popularity as certain members of our beloved PokéSpot became known for running these sets. Here they will be remembered and perhaps used again.
Humberto Miranda's Lead Liepard (GEN 6)
Still with PokéSpot, but he is a rare sight. When asked for some signature sets back in the day, this is what he gave me. It serves as a good anti-lead in a meta where everyone either sets up rocks or is boosting from the get-go with dragon dances. This set takes some time to use properly.
Humby (Liepard) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Encore
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Copycat
Alexi Diaz's Support Latios (GEN 6)
This set came out of no where. We all doubted it, but soon saw that it would be the stuff of legend. 100% original straight out of Alexi's desire to improve sweeping at high-level Smogon OU battles. This set was often partnered with double dance Landorous made by Alex Merrit (below) to savagely destroy teams.
Pokéspot Savior (Latios) @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Memento
Alex Merrit's Double Dance Sweeper Landorous-T (GEN 6)
No longer among the PokéSpot family, Alex was a skilled battler. This set destroyed the competitive ladder of OU. It would eventually create the need for Support Latios as well! Once Landorous-T starts to dance, there won't be much short of Stone Edge missing to stop you. Not even Firemen climb ladder this fast.
Set Up N Ladder (M) @ Lum Berry/Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish
Alec Grennan's Signature Mega Charizrd X (GEN 6)
No longer part of PokéSpot, one of our trusted Fam and seasoned battlers. He vigorously tested for the best Mega Charizard X team, and this is the fruit of all his hard work. Get your dust pan ready; this zard sweeps.

EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw

Kevin Brobst's Signature Mega Metagross (GEN 6)

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- Bullet Punch
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
Nick Lancione's Tricky Sableye (GEN 6)
Though Sableye got it's claim to fame in Gen 6, this particular sset has one goal: Make Talonflame regret existing. Iron Ball hard counters it by cutting it's speed and literally grounding it so EQ's are able to hit it. Even if Talonflame is no where to be found, Tricking Iron Ball will cause havoc all the same to an opponent's team.
Sableye @ Iron Ball

EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Def
Calm Nature
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp

-Sludge Wave
David Seven's Rage Quit Whimsicott (GEN 6)
At first it may not look good on paper, but don't judge until you send it out in battle. Prankster gives Substitute and Attract infurriating levels of effectiveness. Leech Seed and Leftovers more than make up for the damage Substitute creates. Bring some hazard support as opponents will often switch out from infatuation with this cute devil.

Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Attk
-Quiver Dance
-Fiery Dance

Kevin Bobst's Slug Life Shellos (GEN6)
"Ever since Gen 4 I loved Shellos and its derpy ass face. Especially east sea. So when Gen 6 rolled around, I decided to make a competitive set with the idea of it being a troll/stall set. I perfected the set 3 times, hence the 3.0, and it works great. What really makes this set shine is nobody expects it. I've embarrassed live twitch streamers hosting viewer battles by using it before. Hell, even PokéSpot's own Alexi Diaz was thrown off by it during a tournament match between us as he overpredicted, because he associated it being part ground like its evolution, as many mistakenly do." -Kevin Brobst
Shit works. Sticky hold makes sure no one can Knock Off your defense boosting Eviolite.
SlugLife3.0 (Shellos)
Ability: Sticky-Hold
Item: Eviolite

Alexi Diaz's Eternal Mega Slowbro (GEN 6)
First off, Why Game Freak? WHY!? Do you like stall? Well sit down and listen up. This undying creature is just for you. Shell Armor prevents Crits (which ignore defense boosts), combine this with Defense boosting moves and Slack Off, you will be sticking around for a while. Recommended to keep a Heal Bell user on deck for this one. (seriously this thing is annoying).

Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
-Scald
-Calm Mind
-Iron Defense

Alexi Diaz's Earthquake Eating Mega Scizor (GEN 6)
Now, it's no surprise Landorous is a popular pokémon, so how do you beat it? With this set right here. This Scizor does not give a fuck about STAB EQ's from a Landorous. So sit back and relax while you nom nom on some ground attacks.

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
Alexi Diaz's Anti-Clefable Landorous-T (GEN 6)
Defensive Clefable was/is also a problem with it's great stats and it's abilities Unaware or Magic Gaurd. Both of these abilites are annoying. To get past this annoyance, we look no further than Landorous. This set is able to 2 shot any clefable with EQ even with leftovers and without Stealth Rocks damage, all thanks to Earth Plate. DAMN. It is pretty standard otherwise with SR and Explosion.
ABLED (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Earth Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
